Rolex Datejust 1601 - doorstop dial - 36 mm

This Rolex Datejust reference 1601, traceable via its serial number, dates from 1965. The 36mm stainless steel Oyster case features the fluted 18-karat white gold bezel characteristic of this reference.

A distinctive feature of this example is the so-called doorstep or pie-pan dial: the stepped, tiered dial construction that Rolex used only during the 1960s and early 1970s. Dials of this type are among the most sought-after variants of the reference among collectors. The dial shows a warm champagne tone, complemented by the Cyclops lens over the date display typical of the Datejust, and is in good original condition befitting its age.

The watch is powered by the in-house automatic 1560/1570-series caliber, has recently been serviced, and runs very well.

It is completed by the original Rolex Jubilee bracelet (ref. 6251H) in its original size, adjustable from approximately 18.5 cm at its shortest to approximately 20.5 cm at its longest wrist circumference, a largely original Datejust from the classic era of the reference.
